The project "Maria's World: Setting up a Day Care Work Centre for people with mild and moderate intellectual difficulties – an innovative model of daycare for people with intellectual difficulties" is implemented in partnership with the De Passerel Foundation, the Netherlands, and De Passerel Bulgaria Foundation. The aim of the project is to ensure that people with intellectual difficulties live an independent and dignified life by setting up the innovative Maria's World Day Care Work Centre and Sheltered Café for people with mild to moderate intellectual difficulties.

Project objectives: • Make use of the experience of the Dutch partners to exchange of knowledge and ideas about service delivery at day care centres to people with intellectual difficulties.
• Develop a model for work-based daycare, including a sheltered café for people with intellectual difficulties, on the basis of the Dutch experience.
• Implement a social innovation – introduction and pilot testing of a model for work-based daycare for people with mild to moderate intellectual difficulties and model promotion.
• Disseminate information and promote the experience gained in the framework of the project. Main activities: • Activity 1. Study of the Dutch experience in service delivery to people with intellectual difficulties at day care centres.
• Activity 2. Developing a pilot model for a Day Care Work Centre for people with intellectual difficulties on the basis of the Dutch experience.
• Activity 3. Application of the model and setting up Maria's World Day Care Work Centre. Training in the Netherlands and Bulgaria. Pilot testing of the model.
• Activity 4. Organising events to promote the model of the Day Care Work Centre.
• Activity 5. Information and publicity.
• Activity 6. Audit of the project.
• Activity 7. Project management. The duration of the project is 23 months (from April 2013 until March 2015).
