CVM 1515The second annual Charity Ball organised by Maria's World Foundation, which took place on 30 October 2014 at the Auto Bavaria exhibition centre, raised more than BGN 35 000. This year, the clients of the WORLDS Day Care Centre for people with intellectual difficulties participated in the preparation and running of the event by meeting guests, helping with seating arrangements and the sale of raffle tickets.

They thus demonstrated the skills acquired at the Day Care Centre and had an opportunity to invite guests to visit the recently opened sheltered café at the centre — the fund raising cause to which the first annual charity ball was dedicated.

During the auction expertly guided by Bogdana and Simo—the presenters of the Starter show on BG Radio—guests showed the greatest interest in the watercolour depicting a nude body donated by Professor Svetlin Rusev, Fellow of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Amidst a rich palette of other exciting auctioned items, a home-cooked dinner by Tanya Pravchanova, head chef of the Sofia Novotel Hotel, a set of handcrafted ceramic Thracian wine vessels from Treasure Bulgaria, the Love for Our Native Tongue Book by Professor Alexander Teodorov-Balan, a donation from the Museum of Sofia University Saint Clement Ohridsky, a handmade replica of the oldest gold treasure found at the Varna Necropolis, a visit to the ATC tower and centre of the Air Traffic Control Administration etc. also stood out. The funds raised will support the implementation of the Foundation's new project Employment Intermediary Services and Assistance for the Employment of People with Intellectual Difficulties. During the event guests enjoyed the masterful performance of the pianist Maria Karakusheva and the soprano Vera Girginova.

For a second year the Foundation expressed its gratitude to donors, friends, volunteers and partners by recognising their valuable contributions in the second annual award giving ceremony. The Corporate Donor award went to Auto Bavaria—the company that kindly hosted the event. In the Most Committed Corporate Partner of the Year the award was presented to the Medical Devices Engineering, which supported the purchase of equipment for the Worlds Day Care Centre. The Most Active Non-governmental Organisation award went to the Bulgarian Donors Forum, which has been providing steady and sustainable support to the Foundation's team across the board of implemented projects and activities. This year the Company that Makes Dreams Come True award went to the Air Traffic Control Administration, which organised a tour for the clients of the WORLDS Day Care Centre around the ATC room, familiarizing them with the highly responsible job of air traffic controllers. The Hinkovs and Boryana Desheva also received awards the categories Person of the Year and Volunteer of the Year, respectively.

The second annual charity ball of Maria's World Foundation was organised under the auspices of Professor Svetlin Rusev, Fellow of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, who told the audience that an outstretched hand brings salvation to both those in need and to everything that is human in man.

The team of Maria's World Foundation and the clients of the WORLDS Day Care Centre would like to cordially thank all sponsors and donors who owing to whom the second annual charity ball became possible: Auto Bavaria, Novartis, Scania Bulgaria, the Air Traffic Control Administration, Coco-Cola Bulgaria, Nemetschek Bulgaria, Mokarabia, Gerry Weber, Douglas Beauty Zone, Guerlain Bulgaria, Grand Arena Kempinski Hotel, Bansko, Sofia University Saint Clement Ohridsky, Treasure Bulgaria, Grand Hotel Sofia, B and M Art Studio, the Draka Gallery, Roshavata garga, FPI Hotels, Liebherr Bulgaria, Andrews, Novagence, Terra Tours, Lux Catering, Mokarabia, Stage Masters, New Bulgarian University, Interlang, Professor Svetlin Rusev, Maria Karakusheva, Vera Girginova, Sony Bulgaria and Slavina Hristanova.
