The renovation of the Day Care Centre where people with intellectual difficulties will be learning work and social skills is almost complete. We have chosen TOMEKO OOD (http://www.tomeko.bg) – the company that will supply and fit in the professional kitchen furnishings and equipment. TOMEKO OOD has demonstrated an impressive sense of corporate social responsibility and is now amongst our most valued partners. We wholeheartedly thank them for the cooperation!
Maria's World Foundation now welcomes applications from people with intellectual difficulties and their families in connection to the forthcoming opening of a Day Care Work Skills Training Centre.
If you have an intellectual difficulty or know a person who does and wish to assist them, you can contact us by telephone on (02) 808 171 or (0882) 663 665 or send us an e-mail to This email address is being protected from spambots. Maria's World Foundation was voted the winner in a competition held by the Bulgarian Donors Forum with a project for the implementation of a promotion and advertising strategy designed to boost the visibility of a fundraising campaign.
The funding in the amount of USD 10 000 is provided by Bulgarian Donors Forum in order to support an advertising strategy of a cause of civil organization. Maria's World Foundation receives the distinction in recognition of the merits of a project for the implementation of a communication and advertising campaign aiming to raise funds in support of the opening and functioning of a Day Care Work Centre for people with intellectual difficulties.
The advertising strategy was developed jointly with Intelday Solutions PR Agency. (www.intelday.com)
A project developed by Maria’s World Foundation received a nomination from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation at a charity event of the Funding Network organised in London. The British organisation established by four philanthropists – Fred Mulder, Polly Mclean, Sue Gillie and Paul Kelland who had a clear vision of donating as an act of shared responsibility of society – allows individual donors to work together in support of charitable causes, which foster social change.
At the last charity event, which took place on 11 May 2013 in London, the Director of Maria’s World Foundation presented a project that will enable people with intellectual difficulties from Sofia to gain food preparation skills as an opportunity to develop their potential for subsequent social integration. The presentation was made before an audience of potential donors. The food preparation skills development programme raised 5 077 GBP from supporters of the Funding Network.
Maria's World Foundation has celebrated its first anniversary. On 9 February 2013 the Foundation was entered into the Central Register of non-for-profit public benefit organisations kept by the Ministry of Justice.
The Foundation's project to set up a Day Care Work Centre for People with Intellectual Difficulties is a daring task for implementation of which we rely on support from the Bulgarian business community.
We have found staunch supporters and friends at Keros Bulgaria EAD, a manufacturer of ceramics and tiles, which generously donated the tiles for the kitchen area and the utility rooms at the Centre.
Stanimira Georgieva (Head of Human Resources and Vice-President, UniCredit Consumer Financing IFN S.A. Romania) did the full length of the Rotterdam Marathon wearing a T-shirt with the logo of Maria's World Foundation in support of our cause to improve the quality of life of the people with intellectual difficulties. She was one of the 22,000 runners in the prestigious marathon. More than 925,000 spectators cheered the participants along the course of this unique one-day event. The 32nd edition of the largest marathon in the Netherlands for the last 13 years took place on 15 April 2012.
At the invitation of the Bulgarian Donors' Forum, the founding members of Maria's World Foundation took part in a working visit to London dedicated to the development of philanthropy in Central and Eastern Europe. The event was organised by the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation.
The working visit provided us with valuable insights of the history, objectives, structure and donation arrangements of The Funding Network (TFN). We also had the privilege of attending the TFN Spring Assembly, which was dedicated to the tenth anniversary of the Network. For more information about TFN, please visit http://www.thefundingnetwork.org.uk.
